North Ayrshire Women’s Aid is a unique specialist service which provides the full package of emotional and practical support which is both needed and valued by women and children affected by domestic abuse.

We know that making that first step towards getting help can be difficult. We have set up this website so that you can gain a full understanding of what we can offer you, at your own pace, and in your own home.

When you’re ready to get in touch, you can call us on 01294 602424 (9-6). one of our workers will be available to listen, to help you think about your options, and if necessary, arrange somewhere safe for you to stay. Please do not feel embarrassed or ashamed, because you are not alone.

All our support services are free. If you are working and stay at the refuge you may have to make a contribution to your accommodation costs.

All information you share with us is confidential unless we have any concerns about safety and risk.

What is unique about North Ayrshire Women’s Aid?

NAWA is the only organisation in the area which specialises in the support and protection of women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.


Everyone has the right to live free from violence, fear, oppression, intimidation and threats.

Everyone has the right to make their own choices and decisions.

Everyone has the right to have contact with their friends and family.

Everyone has the right to be treated with respect.

The responsibility for domestic abuse always rests with the abuser.

It is estimated that 1 in 5 women will experience domestic abuse in a relationship with a man at some time in their lives. 100,000 children and young people in Scotland are currently living with domestic abuse.

Who We Are

North Ayrshire Women’s Aid are a charity set up to help women, children and young people who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse.

What We Do

We aim to change attitudes about abuse and ultimately end it. We help women, children and young people to recover from the effects of domestic abuse and move on with their lives.

Where We Are

We have outreach services in the Garnock Valley, Irvine area, and the Three Towns area. We also have refuges at various addresses around North Ayrshire.
